Why regular testing is so important

If chlorine and pH levels fall out of balance, this can lead to diarrhea as well as ear and skin infections. Optimal chlorine and pH levels keep harmful bacteria in check.

The rule is: if the pH level rises too high, the germ-killing effectiveness of the chlorine diminishes. Furthermore, chlorine can be depleted rapidly if significant amounts of nitrogen (from dirt, urine, sunscreen, or sweat) or other organic substances enter the pool. For this reason, it is advisable to test the levels continuously, as they can fluctuate from day to day depending on pool usage.
